KING GIANT: New Video Unleashed

Southern doomsters KING GIANT have just recently completed and released the first video from their debut full-length Southern Darkness. Filmed on a mountaintop in West Virginia this past Spring, the video was shot and produced by Kevin Barkerand Doublekick Productions [http://www.doublekickproductions.com] and was built around the storyline to their song “13 To 1”, essentially about a lynching after a card game gone awry. Check it out here:

The band self-released Southern Darkness a year ago, and have been supporting the release heavily ever since through regional touring and massive self-promotion. The professionally produced album is a burly, blues-driven collection of ten whiskey-soaked originals, as well as a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Needle And The Spoon”, culminating in a thunderous, gritty, near hour-long monument prime for fans of Corrosion of Conformity, Kyuss, Clutch, Down and other quality, groove-heavy Southern doom rock.

With a new album being brewed now for release in 2011, the band will continue to promote Southern Darkness through the new year with more live shows in the planning stages, as well as two additional performance videos in the works, for the tracks “Solace” and “Hollow” from Southern Darkness. Both will be released in the coming weeks.

Also just announced is a brutal rock blowout in Brooklyn this October 30th when KING GIANT will come rock the Trash Bar with a killer cast of rock brethren:

10/30/2010 The Trash Bar – Brooklyn, NY w/ Solace, The Resurrection Sorrow, Motheater

“…melodies and atmosphere inhabit that common ground among Alice In Chains, Eyehategod and Hank III. The album title is apt.” – Decibel Magazine

“Unhealthy, doom-tinged southern filth.” – Terrorizer Magazine

“If Backwoods Payback, Earthride, Crowbar, Beaten Back to Pure and Down’s Nola, speak directly to your soul, then you’ll be doing back flips over Southern Darkness. This is riff after riff of gruff, Sabbath leaned southern-metal, with arrangements and vocals bathed from head to toe in soothing, sourmash sauce.” – Hellride Music

“If Johnny Cash rose from the grave and started a metal band this is what it might sound like. Folks, this is some serious shit.” – Heavy Planet
